Strategic agreement signed

BLG and COSCO SHIPPING CAR CARRIERS agree on partnership cooperation.

BLG LOGISTICS and COSCO SHIPPING CARRIERS have agreed on a strategic partnership at the end of 2024 and signed a corresponding agreement. With this agreement, both companies combine their competences in automotive logistics and the handling of high & heavy goods from China to Europe.

BLG AutoTerminal Bremerhaven (ATB) is to be developed into a central port of entry for the German market and a central hub for the markets in Scandinavia, Central and Eastern Europe and the markets in the Baltic states for COSCO SHIPPING CAR CARRIERS.

‘For Chinese manufacturers, Bremerhaven plays a crucial role as a port of entry into the European market. In particular, efficient logistical access to the German market - one of the most important sales markets for vehicle manufacturers - is of key importance,’ says COSCO SHIPPING CAR CARRIERS. The company is aiming for a liner service that includes Bremerhaven with at least two calls per month. BLG LOGISTICS will make the BLG network available to COSCO SHIPPING CARRIERS and the Chinese manufacturers on the landside. This enables the importers to obtain end-to-end logistics solutions from a single source - from the plants in China to the dealerships in Europe.

‘For an open handling port like Bremerhaven, it is important to adapt to current market developments. This means that we have to take into account the changing requirements of our traditional customers and at the same time create efficient logistics solutions for new importers. We are therefore very pleased that BLG's network advantage - the combination of seaport terminals, inland terminals, value-adding technical services and transport by road and rail - has been recognised by COSCO SHIPPING CARRIERS in the interests of Chinese manufacturers. The signed agreement shows that our partner appreciates the depth of service and the cross-network service offering of BLG and wants to create the corresponding benefits for our joint customers,’ says Axel Bantel, Managing Director Sales at BLG Automobile Logistics.

With around 1.5 million vehicles handled, transported or technically processed each year, BLG AutoTerminal Bremerhaven is one of the largest car terminals in the world. All well-known car shipping companies serve Bremerhaven. Covering an area of 295 hectares, the BLG site offers manufacturers optimum space and facilities. Around 70,000 vehicles can be stored here before being transported onwards by road, rail or water. In three technical centres, the BLG Group provides its customers with numerous technical services directly on site.
