Eco Power Port Bremerhaven: BLG LOGISTICS and EUROGATE intensify cooperation in wind energy

Germany's ports play a vital role in the energy transition. In the future, a large volume of renewable energies will be handled and generated in the ports. In Bremerhaven, BLG LOGISTICS and EUROGATE will in future cooperate under the brand Eco Power Port, pooling their wind energy expertise. Both companies draw on many years of experience in handling heavy goods and wind turbine components.

"The cooperation is an important step in the energy transition and also the starting point for creating an energy port", says Kristina Vogt, Bremen's Senator for the Economy, Ports and Transformation. "So I'm delighted about this initiative launched by EUROGATE and BLG." She points out that the federal government has ambitious targets for the expansion of wind energy. They involve ramping up onshore wind energy to 115 gigawatts and offshore wind energy to at least 30 gigawatts of installed capacity by 2030. To achieve these targets, it is essential to reinforce and expand the available port areas in Bremerhaven. "Our cooperation will play a crucial role in rapidly creating the necessary infrastructure and actively helping to shape the energy transition", explains Matthias Magnor, executive officer and COO of the BLG Group.

Under the new Eco Power Port brand, BLG and EUROGATE are adopting a one-face-to-the-customer approach which guarantees seamless and efficient customer support. "The joint use of areas at the container terminal, and later in the Roter Sand southern port area, will create synergies that benefit both our customers and the entire wind energy industry," says Matthias Magnor. Michael Blach, an executive officer of BLG and chairman of the management board of EUROGATE, adds: "This cooperation enables us to expand our services and meet our customers' needs even more effectively."

Bremerhaven as a wind industry hub
Both companies underline the central role of Bremerhaven. They point out that the location offers ideal conditions for the handling, maintenance and manufacture of wind energy components and that the partnership will strengthen Bremerhaven's status as a key location for offshore wind energy in the long term. "With its specialized port equipment, strong industrial infrastructure and future energy port, Bremerhaven offers optimal conditions for the project," stresses Senator Vogt.

Joint stand at the WindEnergy in Hamburg
BLG LOGISTICS and EUROGATE will also present their new brand and strategy at the leading trade show in the industry, the WindEnergy in Hamburg. From September 24 to 27, trade visitors are invited to find out more about the partnership and its extensive services in the wind industry at the joint stand in Hall B.5 | stand number 203. A team headed by Nina Distler will be on site to answer all visitors' questions. The experienced project manager at EUROGATE is the public face of the Eco Power Port.
