The topic of accessibility is becoming increasingly important worldwide and will also be required by law from 2025. The European Accessibility Act (EAA) will be implemented in Germany in the Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz (BFSG). The deadline for implementing the BFSG is: June 28, 2025
It is important to BLG LOGISTICS to offer a website that is as accessible as possible in order to fulfill its social responsibility and to provide all users, regardless of their individual abilities, with unrestricted access to information and services and all of its digital offerings.
Since September 2024, BLG has been improving the accessibility of its website with the help of the “Eye-Able” assistance software. The tool offers a variety of functions to make the website easier to use.
The most important functions of eye-able include:
- Text enlargement: Users can adjust the font size to make texts easier to read.
- Contrast modes: Different contrast modes make reading easier for people with visual impairments.
- Screen reader support: Content can be read aloud, which is particularly helpful for blind or visually impaired users.
- Keyboard navigation: The website can be navigated entirely using the keyboard, making it easier to use for people with motor impairments.
- Color customization: Users can adjust the colors of the website to ensure better readability.
The advantages of these functions are obvious: they enable people with different disabilities to use the website independently and without assistance. This promotes inclusion and ensures that all users have equal access to the information and services of BLG LOGISTICS.
Natascha Sprenger is the contact person and inclusion officer at BLG LOGISTICS. She is available for questions and suggestions regarding accessibility.
