After a six-year break, the global logistics industry met for the 20th time in Shanghai from June 25 to 27 for transport logistic China, Asia's leading trade fair for logistics, mobility, IT and supply chain management. BLG LOGISTICS was also on site again: At the GermanPorts joint stand, BLG focused on automotive logistics from China to Europe. As the operator of AutoTerminal Bremerhaven - one of the largest automobile hubs in the world, which is visited by 1,000 car carriers from all well-known car shipping companies every year - BLG also offers Chinese customers an ideal point of contact.
In today's world, ports and logistics play a central role in international trade. This was also emphasized by Frank Dreeke, CEO of BLG LOGISTICS, during the trade fair tour with the Federal Minister for Digital Affairs and Transport, Dr. Volker Wissing, who officially opened transport logistic China. „The strategic importance of the German seaports for the European economy is great. This is particularly true for Bremen, which has always been a gateway to the world. Our port cities of Bremen and Bremerhaven are traditionally important hubs for the global movement of goods and make a significant contribution to the economic strength of our region," underlined Frank Dreeke at the celebratory "Bremen Evening" to mark the 20th anniversary of Bremeninvest, an initiative of the Bremen Economic Development Corporation. „In recent years, we have seen a remarkable development: the increasing importance of Chinese ports and their partnerships with European ports. These partnerships are more than just business agreements; they are bridges that connect continents and cultures.“
The conference session "A Deep Dive into Vehicle Logistics from China to Europe", hosted by the German Logistics Association (BVL), was also about these bridges. BLG was represented on the podium by Axel Bantel, Managing Director and Global Director Sale for the AUTOMOBILE Division at BLG LOGISTICS. The automotive logistics expert focused his presentation on the opportunities offered by German seaports for importing Chinese cars. In addition to his extensive personal experience, Bantel's expertise is also based on the company's many years of cooperation with Asian car manufacturers. At the beginning of the year, BLG LOGISTICS welcomed the BYD Explorer No. 1 on its maiden voyage in Bremerhaven. On board were around 3,000 BYD EVs, which were unloaded at the AutoTerminal in Bremerhaven. Furthermore, BLG is in close contact with the Cosco shipping company. „The close ties between BLG and our Asian partners are reflected in a Friendship Agreement signed by my fellow Board member Matthias Magnor in March of this year. The partnership between our AutoTerminal Bremerhaven and the Haitong RoRo Terminal in Shanghai creates a special bridge between Shanghai and Bremerhaven, which makes it easier for Chinese car manufacturers to export their vehicles to Europe," says Frank Dreeke. After three days at the trade fair, BLG's CEO draws a positive picture: „We held valuable discussions with our Asian customers, made new contacts and strengthened our international relationships."
