The BYD Explorer No. 1 is on its way to Europe from Shenzen in China. The car carrier chartered by car manufacturer BYD (Build Your Dreams) will dock in Bremerhaven on its maiden voyage. Around 3,000 vehicles are to be unloaded at AutoTerminal Bremerhaven.
Matthias Magnor, COO and member of the Board of Management of the BLG Group: "We are delighted that the BYD Explorer No. 1 is mooring in Bremerhaven. BYD's decision underlines the importance of our location as an international hub for automotive logistics."
The BYD Explorer No. 1 is the first car carrier to be chartered by BYD. In the future, the world's largest manufacturer of electric vehicles intends to operate a fleet of eight ships in total in order to accelerate the export of Chinese cars to Europe. The ships will not only transport the company's own vehicles, but also the products of other Chinese car manufacturers. The BYD Explorer No. 1 is also the first ship built in the People's Republic that is entirely dedicated to the export of Chinese vehicles.
