The seaport and logistics service provider BLG LOGISTICS will receive the special "Energy Efficiency" award of the German mobility industry for the sustainable logistics center "C3 Bremen" on November 13, 2023 in Frankfurt's Paulskirche.
With this special award, the Deutsche Verkehrswissenschaftliche Gesellschaft e.V. (DVWG) honors successful projects and solutions that significantly reduce energy consumption and climate-relevant emissions in the transport sector in a measurable and verifiable way. "We are delighted that our lighthouse project, the C3 Bremen, has been recognized with this award this year," explains Matthias Magnor, Member of the Board of Management and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the BLG Group.
The "C3 Bremen" is the sustainable logistics center with which BLG is setting new standards in terms of sustainability and equipment for logistics properties. The abbreviation that gives the C3 its name stands for the initial letters of the English terms Customer, Climate and Comfort - customer requirements, sustainability and employee needs, all of which were central to the development of the property's overall concept. In addition to a holistic energy concept for heating, hot water and ventilation as well as comprehensive building insulation and intelligent lighting control, the building's own energy generation capacity is particularly important.
C3 Bremen: Lighthouse project for green logistics
"With growing freight traffic, the sustainable design of supply chains is more important than ever. This also applies to real estate, which accounts for a particularly high proportion of CO2 emissions in logistics. In order to achieve the climate targets that have been set, the space used by logistics centers must be used as efficiently as possible," says jury member Prof. Dr. Claudia Kemfert, explaining the decision. "As a flagship project for green logistics, C3 Bremen is significantly more innovative, holistic and sustainable in this respect. It includes a wide range of components, from a large-scale photovoltaic system to various energy efficiency measures for the building envelope and green spaces. This convinced the jury."
The award ceremony will take place as part of the German Mobility Congress, which the DVWG is organizing for the ninth time together with the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund and Messe Frankfurt GmbH.
