After Jens Bieniek elected not to renew his contract as CFO of BLG LOGISTICS at the beginning of the year, the 56-year-old is handing over the reins to Christine Hein. She was officially appointed a member of the Board of Management as from November 1, 2020. Following a transition phase, Jens Bieniek will leave the company at the latest by the end of the year to take up new challenges. At that point, Christine Hein will fully take over responsibility for finances at the company.
Alongside Andrea Eck, who is Director of the AUTOMOBILE division at BLG, and Labor Relations Director Ulrike Riedel, Christine Hein will then be the third woman on the six-member Board of Management. BLG AG has thus moved up to the top group of listed companies in Germany in terms of the proportion of women in executive and supervisory board positions.
Following executive management roles at international companies, Christine Hein (53) brings to the table solid knowledge and experience, especially in finance / accounting, risk management and M&A. Furthermore, she draws on experience in various industries such as oil and chemicals, machinery and plant construction and the food industry.
After a range of positions at the mechanical engineering company Babcock Borsig in Oberhausen in the 1990s, Christine Hein worked as from 2003 in various departments and companies within the French group Total. Most recently, she was Chief of Total Global Financial Services in the internal Shared Service Center Accounting. She previously played a decisive role in establishing and developing this department as a Program Manager. In 2015 and 2016, the graduate in Business Administration held the post of Vice President Corporate & Project Finance, Refining Chemicals/Marketing & Services of Total SE, where she was responsible, among other things, for financial analysis and risk assessment. Her career also took her beyond France and Germany to Singapore.
Frank Dreeke, the CEO of BLG, commended Jens Bieniek, who has been with BLG LOGISTICS since 1999, for his commitment. During this time, Mr. Bieniek occupied a series of management positions before joining the Board of Management in 2013: “In more than 20 years at BLG, Jens Bieniek was a driving force behind many different developments, including the transformation of our company into a global operator in the seaport and logistics industry. Over a long period, he made invaluable contributions to important strategic projects. For this, I would like to thank him on behalf of the entire Board of Management. Personally, I wish him all the very best for his future professional career!"
Dr. Klaus Meier, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of BREMER LAGERHAUS-GESELLSCHAFT –Aktiengesellschaft von 1877– added: „Throughout his time with us, Jens Bieniek always worked tirelessly and with great personal commitment for the interests of BLG.
